Hey There 4H Families!
We are halfway through September and boy have we had a busy two weeks! In addition to development routines and procedures that will work for our learning spaces and help us to maximize our learning and fun time, your kiddos have been studying multiplication, setting up google accounts on their Chromebooks, focusing on a single moment when writing, reflecting on and discussing reading habits and even organizing our classroom library to make it accessible--they sure have been busy. We are getting to know one another and figuring out what works together.
One thing we are all testing out together is flexible seating in our classroom. This means that instead of desks and chairs, students can choose workspaces on the floor, couch, rocking chairs, tables, etc. This takes practice and requires us all to retrain our thinking about how to enter the classroom and how to select a seat that will result in quality work. Kids have been having fun trying new spaces and working around the classroom. In the next two weeks we will refine our selection process and allow each student time to test out each space. On an aside f you have seating or low tables you are looking to rehome, reach out to me, we may be interested.
The class has created individual goals for their fourth grade year. We will use these goals to help us create classroom rules that will allow everyone to maximize class time and minimize hurt feelings. We have also learned and played a handful or fun group games and are looking forward to learning a few more before the end of the month. Work hard, play hard!
I look forward to your visit to our classroom on Back to School Night, September 28. In the meantime, check our classroom Instagram to see photos of what we've been up to!
